Have you noticed your senses responding to the signs of Autumn in the air? Apples, pumpkins, butternut squash. Tailgate parties with chili, sliders, nachos, and spinach dip. Apple cider donuts, candy corn and other tasty treats flood our farms, markets, and online shopping venues. Halloween will yield to Thanksgiving followed by the Winter holiday festivals. For many of my clients, holidays–like bookends–from Halloween to Valentine’s Day can mark the beginning of slow but steady weight gain followed by months of yo-yo dieting. For some people, this time of year triggers disordered eating, loss of control or a “white knuckle” approach of getting through the months of the most “wonderful time of the year” with as little damage as possible to waistlines and mental health.

Thanks to Dr. Dorie McCubbrey, MS, Ed., Ph.D., affectionately known as the “UnDiet” doctor, I have received training in the Intuitive Weight Loss (IWL™) method, and I am applying these weight loss strategies and principles to help my clients approach the holidays without the fear and anxiety associated with seasonal weight gain.
